I'm a nerd...that's why I'm writing this!

I thought it was time that I introduce some very important beings in my life to the world wide web… so get ready, get set….TA DA!

Heeerrreee’s THOMAS and ALEX!

Thomas and Alex snooze fest 2006

Okay, yes, I’m a nerd and I’m introducing my cats to you. The thing is that they are a big part of my life and make it into conversations every once in a while as if they are human beings. That lends to some problems because people think I’m talking about a boyfriend (which would then make it 3 boyfriends for me)… like when I say “It was so cute last night! Thomas cuddled me all night.” That always gets the weird looks!

Yum...chicken box!

Anyways, here’s the deal. Thomas is the oldest one. We got him in Rhode Island where he was a stray alley kitten. He’s a bit shy and not very friendly (except to Joe and me), but for some reason everyone loves him! He tends to think he’s actually a person.

Alex with fabric

Alex is the baby. He is also a little mentally challenged… he is, I checked with my vet (look at his crossed eyes). He’s the sweetest thing ever, but has some problems with life’s simple tasks…such as paper and plastic bags. Example 1: He likes to play in paper grocery bags (what cat doesn’t?), but he tends to get stuck in the bag. One time he crawled in and played around and for some reason he couldn’t figure out how to get out. His tail was hanging out the bag and he cried and cried and eventually tore a hole in the bottom of the bag in order to get out. So sad…but hi-lar-i-ous! Example 2: He gets his head stuck in the handles of plastic bags all the time and he’ll just run around the house with a plastic grocery bag hanging around his neck. He’s like a damn baby! I have to make sure there aren’t any bags around for him to choke on!

Example 3: Alex often gets his claws stuck in the sofa, and then forgets that he is stuck and proceeds to try and walk away. It’s pretty funny to watch him get all tangled up.

My cat Brodie is a freak when it comes to plastic bags. He got stuck in the handle of one when he was about 6mo old, and he ran around the house spazzing, even leaving a ‘wet trail’ he was so scared. He can’t stand collars with bells, I tried that once with him, and he ran away from himself for an entire day until I finally cornered him and took off the offending collar. He had a hollow, abused look after that one. He’s now about 20 lbs and knocks you over when rubbing your legs, and likes beating on our kitten Azalea. I

Your cats are sooo cute. You should have them join catster. I guess you probably already have!

Heather – I think Thomas would scratch my eyes out if I ever tried to put a collar on him!

Nik – catster? don’t know about it…on my way to google it.

Surely it’s not that nerdy to talk about pets as if they’re people… ... right?
My dog think’s she’s a person most of the time and sometimes I forget that she isn’t. It’s easy to do isn’t it?
Well, Alex and Thomas, it was nice to meet you both.

You know what’s really funny about that? I also have a cross-eyed cat who I think would qualify as mentally retarded were he a person. We’re pretty sure he’s inbred as well. His name is Squirrel and he’s big and fluffy and white and was in a litter with another boy kitty who looks just like your Thomas. Weird world, isn’t it?

Your totally not a nerd for posting about your cats! I think its a normal thing for any cat owner to talk about. My cat may be an evil witch, but I still can’t help but tell everyone how sweet she is to me most of the time. Plus shes like the kid I don’t need/have.

It’s very nice to meet your cats. My cat, Queen Elizabeth, is a little chicken obsessed, and would be very jealous of the box that Thomas is hiding inside in that second picture.

I’m really enjoying reading your blog, and seeing each of your designs for the new challenges you’ve missed.

In conclusion, your cats? Adorable. Reading your blog? Filling the hole of you not being on the show.

I'm currently loving ...

America's Best Dance Crew 2 While no one this season can compare to the JabbaWockeeZ, I'm still a big fan of this dance show (always wanted to be a dancer!).

Girl Talk "Feed the Animals" Okay... so the first time I saw this guy live, he was a bit of an a**hole to my friends band who opened for him, but I have to let that slide since I'm totally in love with this mix.

Bats for Lashes Saw this music video at the bike film festival this weekend and loved it. So simple and so creepy...

Flickr photos! lots of photos, especially of cats.

Across the Universe I wasn't sold the first time I watched this, but then I couldn't stop thinking about it and now I'm loving it! Definitely gets you in the mood for some Beatles music.

The Office I know... I'm late to the game, but I can't get enough of The Office right now!

Nortec Collective 5 guys on laptops + 1 trumpet + 1 accoridan... Ranks at the top of my list for best live shows ever, right up there with Radiohead and Flaming Lips.

Bamboo Fabric Store I'm trying to move my Spring '08 collection into the green by using organic and/or sustainable fabrics. I found all my new bamboo jersey fabrics here and I'm totally in love with them!

Project Runway 3 DVD I got this for Christmas and am still too scared to watch it! I've heard that I'm shown on the DVD a lot more than I was on the season... eek!
