DIFFA Denim Makeover (part deux)

Okay, so like I said in my PR recap, I’ve been meaning to post the finished product of my DIFFA denim jacket makeover, but you know how busy things get.

Anyways… here’s some pictures of the final dress that I came up with using the jacket they sent me and some other denim that I had on hand (the requirements for the charity auction is that you used some part of the original jacket, but could use other denim or whatever you wanted).

I didn’t have time to get a model scheduled, so the pictures are just on the dress form, but for some silly fun, I actually tried the dress on and was pleasantly surprised that it fit! The photos are awful because of the flash, but I thought they at least show off the shape of the dress (not to mention that they’re kinda funny and I’m in heels!):

I must say, it looks a tad bit on the short side on you.

But it looks cute, the button detailing on the side is nice, although I’m not sure I like that leftover piece of belt/something that is still stitched on there.

I’m also envious of your straight stitching, but I guess that’s a thing that comes with experience.

Does the extra figure seam at the bust help with the fit around the breast a lot? Because I actually have never seen it before that I can remember.

Ha ha! it’s definitely shorter than what I’m used to wearing (jeans), but it didn’t feel ‘inappropriately’ short when I was wearing it and I would have felt comfortable going outside (well, as comfortable as I can be in a dress and I definitely wouldn’t go outside today since it’s like -15!).

I’m not sure which seam you’re talking about… the 2 darts on the bust? If so, it was just the easiest thing to have 2 small darts instead of 1 larger one, but it does help a bit with shaping.

The leftover stuff on the band was part of the waistband around the bottom of the jacket. I was trying to get as much original detailing in the dress as possible, which is why I left it there.

America's Best Dance Crew 2 While no one this season can compare to the JabbaWockeeZ, I'm still a big fan of this dance show (always wanted to be a dancer!).

Girl Talk "Feed the Animals" Okay... so the first time I saw this guy live, he was a bit of an a**hole to my friends band who opened for him, but I have to let that slide since I'm totally in love with this mix.

Bats for Lashes Saw this music video at the bike film festival this weekend and loved it. So simple and so creepy...

Knit Book; Basics & Beyond I want to make some hats and I use to know how to knit, but need a refresher. This is a great book that covers a lot of info and has TONS of good pictures (great to learn from).

Bamboo Fabric Store I'm trying to move my Spring '08 collection into the green by using organic and/or sustainable fabrics. I found all my new bamboo jersey fabrics here and I'm totally in love with them!

Project Runway 3 DVD I got this for Christmas and am still too scared to watch it! I've heard that I'm shown on the DVD a lot more than I was on the season... eek!
