My Summer "Top 10" Day 3
Top Summer Moment #3: Wedding Dresses!
This summer I designed and made not only my first, but also my second wedding dress (wait… not MY wedding dress, but dresses for OTHER people… just to clarify)!
The first one was for my cousin Megan and was my first shot at a traditional white satin wedding dress. Luckily, she had a pretty good idea what shape she wanted and she also wanted something very classic and clean. It probably would have killed me to make it if she had wanted big puffy sleeves or lace or beading! All in all I think it turned out fantastic and it was actually a lot of fun to work on and I learned A LOT about construction.
The back photos show the dress bustled after the ceremony. When it wasn’t bustled, it had a 5’ train (which was really fun to make).

The second dress was for my boyfriend’s mom’s wedding. Corinne is what I like to call the “Queen of Co-ops” and is a pretty well known person in the world of natural foods. A traditional white dress definitely wouldn’t suit her personality, so instead we went with a version of the Laura Dress in a light moss green and pale gold Dupioni silk. I also made jersey dresses for the bridal party, which was made up of Corinne’s 3 daughters and her sister. I don’t have any pictures of the dresses yet, but when I get some I’ll make sure to post them!
